FLMS Counseling Department

Welcome to the Floyd Light Middle School Counseling Office!

The mission of the Floyd Light Middle School Counseling Department is to inspire all students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally to become successful global citizens. All students will have equal access to the Floyd Light Middle School Counseling Program, which provides developmentally appropriate social emotional learning that include individual check-ins and classroom lessons. In addition, students will be treated equitably, with fairness, justice, and respect by the counseling staff.

There are a number of reasons that students and caregivers may want to connect with the counselor. Some reasons may be: 

  • Listening to any issue or concern that may impact a student’s learning.
  • Any bullying or harassment reporting. 
  • Discussing class placement and Forecasting (selecting electives for the next school year/High School) 
  • Problem solving through conflict resolution
  • School Stress
  • Mental Health concerns
